Hospital News (Day 1)
Today Grandma could not breath very well and had a fever all night. Grandpa said she was up all night trying to breath a little better. She was not able to get in my car, so I called 911 for an ambulance. They arrived and administered oxygen and placed an IV. Took her by ambulance to Alta View Hospital where they transferred her to IMC Hospital ICU unit. Grandma has fluid in her lungs, maybe from congestive heart failure. Her kidneys are working overtime. However, they still have not ruled out pneumonia. She has a Lung Specialist, Heart Specialist, and a Kidney Specialist, so she is in very good hands. The nurse is darling and checks her very regularly. They have given her antibiotics and Tylenol to keep her fever down. She had a 102 fever and her sugar levels were 180, but they are watching her closely. The ICU is limited to 2 visitors in the room at a time and they are trying to keep visits about 10 minutes long. The nurses call her the "CHATTER-BOX PATIENT". Grandma really needs to rest, and hopefully she will sleep tonight. Keep her in your prayers. No children under 14 are allowed in the ICU unit. Pictures and cards would be great.
